For some variations:
*Other fruits to try are mangos, peaches, raspberries and cantaloupe.
*Other greens to try are spinach (a great one to start with if you’ve never made a green smoothie because it’s the most bland) and swiss chard.
*Other mix ins like brewers yeast, a great source of B vitamins for those who aren’t big red meat eaters, and probiotics.

Is this really good? I remember you telling me that if you blended the ingredients in a certain order it didn’t turn green. Was it this smoothie or different one?
So, if you’ve never tried greens in a smoothie, this would be too much. Start out with spinach first (most bland), like a cup or two. Then after a few times, start working with bok choy and kale, adding 1 leaf at a time. I tend to stick with spinach for Owen or 1 leaf of kale or a few leafs of bok choy. It will turn the color, not quite dark green if you don’t use too much. I put it in a cup he can’t see through. You can always add a squeeze of honey or aguave too for a little sweet. Let me know if you can get it down:)
Is OJ way better than apple juice? I usually use a little apple juice in smoothies because it’s less tart than OJ. Just curious.
Apple Juice will work, I just tend to stick to the most pure form of juice I can find and it’s harder to find in apple, although, I think Trader Joes carries a fresh squeezed apple. But you’re right, apple makes it sweeter.
Just made the green smoothie. I just used some spinach. It’s great, and Dane likes it too!
Keep the recipes coming!
Glad I stumbled on this. I saw a woman on Dr Oz that thinks she cured her cancer with green smoothies, this seems like a good way to get lots of green into the diet. I like to ad mint too, it also does wonders for fruit salad.
