The Awesome Vitamin D3

This is one of the most misunderstood vitamins, Vitamin D3, also known as the sunshine vitamin. Researchers are finding overwhelming evidence to support that it is so vital in the overall health of our immune systems.  Western medicine doctors are even starting to realize the value and importance of it.  About 5 years ago I had my level tested and I remember it being 55, normal range being 50-80. So of course to the typical doctor, this was right in range and saw no alarm. But as I began reading and researching optimal levels of vitamin D3, mine was incredibly low.  A low level can result in lower immune function which I already have a problem with. It can be a culprit for osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers.  I just read an article about vitamin D3 even helping prevent and treat the flu.  However, this is a vitamin you can overdose on so it’s really important that you get your levels tested periodically to make sure you are staying within a healthy range.  The best way to get the vitamin:
1.  15-20 minutes of sunshine a day (90% of your daily intake if from this source)
2.  Fatty fish
3.  Eggs

If you don’t have the luxury of living in paradise year round, there are supplements available.  We currently take (including my son) Carlson’s Solar D3.  Dosage varies depending on the source but the recommended dosing chart we go by is found on mercola’s site as well.

Hi Dani,
Loved this post on D3, glad you shared your knowledge about it- and by the way, send me an email with the amount I owe you for buying the bottle of it for Emery…. I never paid you. Thanks, Annie
