Sparking Their Imagination…

Today, on behalf of my sister’s idea, I did a project with Owen.  I took an old shoe box lying around and turned it into a very generic scenery.  It was very basic on purpose.  All the elements were made from felt - sky, grass, sun and clouds and a little stream.  Then I got out all his random figurines around the house - people, trees, fences, animals, anything little I could find. I told him to go out in the yard and gather whatever he would need and he came in with rocks, a twig and some grass blades.  And for about 45 minutes he just created this little village of life, talking with the figures and placing them just so.  Then he explained his little story that he imagined up in his little 4 year old head.  I love to see him use his imagination rather than doing activities that just don’t require that anymore.  Don’t get me wrong, we do the TV thing on occasion, but I just don’t have a TV lover on my hands.
