Favorite purchase - The Vita-Mix

This past summer, in the middle of my vegan diet experiment for my health, my doctor recommended the Vita-Mix to me.  Many of my foods were to be prepared in a food mill or blender so that I could obtain many more fruits and veggies at a sitting.  I didn’t believe it could do just that until I broke down and bought one.  I know they are a bit pricey but it’s been the best couple hundred dollars we’ve ever spent.  It happens to be the blender used at Jamba Juice so you can get an idea of just how well this appliance can pulverize.  The most common thing I use it for is to make green smoothies, which is a daily thing in our house.  One of the best things I learned from my year on the vegan diet was about blended salads.  There are so many nutrient dense vegetables that I never eat or would even know how to prepare let alone make taste decent.  But with my powerhouse blender, my son and I now drink, daily, a smoothie, loaded up with kale, spinach, bok choy, flax meal and some fresh or frozen fruit with a splash of juice.  It’s been a great way to get my 4 year old to eat this “grown up” veggies, I can hide just about anything in them. And really, they do taste good, you just have to get past the bright green color.  You may be thinking any ol’ blender would do the job, but unfortunately, it just doesn’t break down the greens like the Vita-Mix.  Not to mention, I use it for making homemade nut butters, pesto sauce, blending soups to make them thicker and making ice cream!

I have a Vita-Mix and I love it! I also drink a green drink everyday. Everyone should have one! It is worth the money.
